Digital PR and link building

Links still separate page one from page two on a competitive term, and they are also the fastest way to get a site penalised, which is why every one gets logged and explained.

The problem

Why this comes up

The link industry runs on two convenient fictions, that you cannot see where your links came from, and that fifty links a month from sites you have never heard of amounts to a strategy. I have taken a site out of a Google manual action, which is slow, expensive and avoidable, and almost always caused by links someone bought cheaply and never explained.

Digital PR and link building, illustrated

What you get

Named deliverables, not a promise to optimise something. Every one of these appears in the proposal with hours against it.

Get a scope for your site
  • A link log with every placement, the page it points at, the anchor used and why it was built
  • Digital PR angles pitched to publications your customers actually read
  • Anchor text spread deliberately, so the profile does not look bought
  • An audit of the links already pointing at you, and a disavow file if you need one

How it runs

1

Audit

What already points at you, what is helping, and whether anything in there is a liability.

2

Angle

A reason for a publication to link that is not that you exist, usually data you have never thought to publish.

3

Pitch

Outreach to named journalists and site owners, tracked so you can see the hit rate.

4

Log

Every win recorded with its target page and anchor, so the profile is deliberate rather than accumulated.

Questions

Ask these of anyone you are considering, not just me.

Ask something else
Do you buy links?

No, though some placements carry a legitimate cost, digital PR and sponsored features among them, and where that happens it shows at cost on the invoice rather than marked up quietly.

How many links will I get a month?

I will not quote a number, because anyone who does is padding with directories or buying, and what is fixed instead is that you see every one and why it exists.

What if my site already has bad links?

That is an audit and usually a disavow, since most sites carry some junk that Google ignores, and the ones needing real work are where someone bought aggressively.

Want this run on your site?

Send the URL and the terms you want to own. You get a scope and a number, not a discovery call.
