Technical SEO

Sites stuck between position eleven and twenty are rarely short of content, and what holds them back usually sits in the build, which is the part most agencies email to your developer and then wait six months for.

The problem

Why this comes up

Plenty of agencies will send you a sixty page crawl report, charge for it, and treat the job as finished, which leaves the site as broken as it was and the work sitting in your developer's backlog. I build sites as well as rank them, so a redirect chain or a render blocking script gets fixed the same week it is found.

Technical SEO, illustrated

What you get

Named deliverables, not a promise to optimise something. Every one of these appears in the proposal with hours against it.

Get a scope for your site
  • Every indexing blocker found and then fixed, rather than only flagged
  • Redirect chains collapsed, canonicals corrected, duplicate templates merged
  • Core Web Vitals moved into the green, measured on real page loads
  • Internal linking rebuilt so authority reaches the pages that sell

How it runs

1

Crawl

A full crawl, log files where the server allows it, and a look at what Google has actually indexed.

2

Prioritise

Issues ranked by what they cost you in rankings, rather than by how alarming the tool coloured them.

3

Fix

The work gets made in the code, and you approve anything that changes what a visitor sees.

4

Verify

A recrawl to confirm the fix held, then indexing and position watched on the pages affected.

Questions

Ask these of anyone you are considering, not just me.

Ask something else
How long before technical fixes show in rankings?

Indexing problems can clear within days once the blocker is gone, while speed and structure work tends to show over four to eight weeks, because Google has to recrawl and reassess.

Do you need access to my hosting?

Usually the CMS and the DNS at least, since work moves at the speed of access, though if your developer would rather implement the changes I will write them up precisely and check the result.

Will this break my site?

Changes go to staging where one exists, and otherwise out in small reversible steps with a backup taken first.
