Web development

Sites built by the person who then has to rank them, which removes most of the arguments that happen between a design agency and an SEO six months after launch.

The problem

Why this comes up

The usual sequence is that a studio builds something beautiful, it goes live, traffic falls off a cliff, and an SEO gets brought in to explain why, and the answer is almost always no redirect map, a structure drawn in a workshop rather than built around what people search, and a page weight nobody measured. Rebuilding is sometimes cheaper than fixing, and I will tell you which side of that line your site falls on.

Web development, illustrated

What you get

Named deliverables, not a promise to optimise something. Every one of these appears in the proposal with hours against it.

Get a scope for your site
  • A site structured around the keyword map, so every commercial term has a page that owns it
  • Core Web Vitals green from the first day rather than retrofitted after a complaint
  • A redirect map, so you keep the rankings you already have through the move
  • Forms that work, are tested, and log a failure rather than losing an enquiry silently

How it runs

1

Map

Keyword map first and structure second, so the sitemap comes out of what people search rather than your org chart.

2

Build

Built fast and accessible, with every page tested on a real phone rather than a resized browser window.

3

Migrate

Every old URL mapped to a new one before launch, which is the step that gets skipped and the step that costs rankings.

4

Verify

Crawl, schema validation, form tests and speed on real connections, then indexing watched for the first month.

Questions

Ask these of anyone you are considering, not just me.

Ask something else
Do you use WordPress?

Where it earns its place, usually when you need to edit content daily, though for brochure and lead generation sites I often build static because it is faster, cheaper to host and has no plugin surface to get hacked.

Will I lose rankings when the site changes?

Not if the migration is done properly, and a dip of a week or two is normal even then, while permanent loss comes from launching without a redirect map.

Can you work with my existing designer?

Yes, and it often works well, with them owning how it looks and me owning how it is built and how it ranks.

Want this run on your site?

Send the URL and the terms you want to own. You get a scope and a number, not a discovery call.
